Overview

Disease Me is a 3D side-scroller puzzle platform game for two players that I designed and prototyped at University during the Online Game Design course, together with 2 of my friends and colleagues and one artist. It was greatly appreciated and was the winner of the New Game Designer Contest.

The game's narrative revolves around the concept of depression and the struggles to overcome past traumas, with one player impersonating a boy and the other player taking the role of an entity called Hoop, representing his will to live.

The gameplay enforce this whole concept with complementary abilities for the characters that permit an active collaboration between the players.

During the course we produced documentations and prototypes for the game.


Some of my contributions:

  • Target Analysis on age, gender and players type.

  • Worked on the narrative.

  • Storyboarding.

  • Wrote and maintained design documents working with other colleagues.

  • Gameplay scripting (Enemies' AI, Camera, Network connection, Environment puzzles in the clock segment, Data saving and others).

  • Environment puzzles design.

  • Server load design.

  • Trailer editing.

  • Worked with the CG artist to create and animate 3D assets.
